speed and agilityCoach Shabazz’s speed training techniques are unique for several reasons. One, every movement is explosive and this trains the nervous system to know more explosive movements. Coach Shabazz positions each athlete in such a way that forces the necessary muscles to fire in such a forceful and powerful way that it propels you much farther than it typically would.
One way that this is successful is by concentrating on training the FAST TWITCH muscles VS SLOW TWITCH. Fast twitch muscles are the muscles in the muscular system that controls quick bursts of speed, explosive vertical jumps, and quick lateral movements. Focusing on this section for speed gains will provide substantial gains in speed and power development and will propel your speed to new heights!
Another way to increase speed gains is to pay special attention to the technical aspects of running speed. Various factors such as hand placement, foot placement, stride frequency, stride length, foot strike, etc. and essential when looking to develop maximal running speed. Coach Shabazz doesn’t just tell athletes to “GO RUN AND RUN FAST!”, he teaches the techniques to eliminate wasted movement so that every part of your sprint is productive.
